Hwh shooting: Murder weapon, fake passports recovered

Howrah: Police recovered the gun used to kill promoter Shafiq Khan in Pilkhana under Howrah's Golabari police station. Investigators said the weapon was used early on Wednesday to shoot Shafiq dead at the busy Bhaggu crossing on Pilkhana Second Lane, allegedly by Harun Khan and his associate Rafakat Hossain, also known as Rohit.Howrah City Police's DC North Amlan Kusum Ghosh told TOI two modern pistols and two magazines used in the killing were found inside a water tank at the Bowbazar home of Md Wakil alias Munna, an aide of Harun, who was present at the scene. Ghosh said Harun and Rohit handed the weapons to Wakil while fleeing. During the interrogation, Munna disclosed the hiding place. Police also found fake passports and other documents from his house.
After the murder, Harun and Rohit reportedly took refuge at Wakil's secret hideout in Jorabagan, where they held a party with two other criminals, Md Bilal and Dildar Hossain. Police also arrested an aide of Rohit, Md Aslam, from Metiabruz, taking the total number of arrests to four. According to cops, Aslam was present at Pilkhana during the murder. Another Howrah City Police office said the interrogation of the four gave them leads on Harun and Rohit, suspected to have fled by road, possibly to another state, by an SUV arranged by Bilal, though they might also be hiding in Kolkata or a nearby district.On Friday, DIG (CID) Indra Chakraborty had visited Shafiq's home and spoke to his mother, Mustari Begum, brother Zahir Khan, and his wife.
