Bangladesh Film Festival

. Held at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, the festival was organised by Bidhannagar Film Society in collaboration with the Federation of Film Societies of India.

The festival had an impressive line-up of contemporary Bangladeshi movies. That included films of Morshedul Islam, Abu Sayeed, Nurul Alam Atique, Abu Shahed Emon, Ahasan Kabir Liton, Tasmiah Afrin Mou and Khandaker Sumon. The festival was inaugurated by ‘Anil Bagchir Ekdin’. This is the first film adapted from a work of Humayun Ahmed after his death. This was followed by the screening of Md Ahasan Kabir’s ‘Pratyabartan’ and Tasmiah Afrin Mou’s ‘Statement After My Poet Husband’s Death’.

Last Saturday evening saw the screening of Aby Sayeed’s Kittonkhola and Abu Sayeed Emon’s ‘Jalaler Golpo’. On Sunday evening, the screening began with Morshedul Islam’s ‘Amar Bandhu Rashed’ and Khandekar Sumon’s ‘Pounopunik’. The concluding film of the festival was Nurul Alam Atique’s ‘Dubsatar’. Said Premendra Mazumder, who is the former general secretary of the Federation of Film Societies of India, “We had launched the Bangladesh Festival on February 21, which was the Bhasha Dibas. had attended the festival. The same package of films will now be touring across 20 Indian cities. The Salt Lake festival was organised to celebrate the Bengali new year. Subsequently, it will be going to Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jamshedpur and Trivandrum.”
