Bypoll Results 2023 Live Updates: BJP bags Pune's Chinchwad seat with 35,000 vote margin

BJP candidate Ashwini L. Jagtap has won the bypoll to the Chinchwad Assembly seat on the outskirts of Pune, the results of which were announced Thursday. She trounced her nearest Nationalist Congress Party-Maha Vikas Aghadi rival Vithal 'Nana' Kate and Shiv Sena (UBT) rebel Rahul Kalate who contested as an Independent. The vote counting exercise for five assembly seats, Ramgarh in Jharkhand, Sagardighi in West Bengal, Erode East in Tamil Nadu and Kasba and Chinchwad in Maharashtra, began at 8am. The voting for Kasba and Chinchwad assembly seats took place on February 26 while for bypolls in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu took place on February 27. Ramgarh fell vacant in December last year following the disqualification of the incumbent MLA, Mamta Devi of JMM. Bypoll for Sagardighi was conducted due to the demise of TMC MLA Subrata Saha. In Kasba and Chinchwad its due to the deaths of incumbent BJP MLAs. In Erode its due to the sudden demise of the Congress MLA E Thirumahan Everaa. Stay with TOI for all updates

Ramgarh bypoll: AJSU-P candidate Sunita Choudhary wins Ramgarh seat by defeating Congress' Bajrang Mahto by a margin of 21,644 votes after the end of counting process. Sunita, who came second in 2019 polls, this time bagged a total of 1,15,243 votes compared to Bajrang's 93,599 votes.

Ramgarh bypoll: AJSU Party leads by 21,960 votes after 9th round of counting

AJSU party candidate Sunita Choudhary was leading by 21,960 votes over her nearest rival Bajrang Mahto of the Congress after the ninth round of counting in the Ramgarh by-election, an official said on Thursday. The AJSU party, which has tied up with the BJP for the bypoll, got 1,04,442 votes while the Congress, an ally of the ruling JMM-led coalition, got 82,482 after the completion of the ninth round of counting, the official said.

With early trends in Erode East bye-election showing a tilt towards the Congress, its workers and supporters burst into celebrations at Tamil Nadu's Chennai. In the latest trend, Indian National Congress candidate EVKS Elangovan is leading Erode East bye-election by 15,631 votes against All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam opponent K.S Thennarasu. "Everybody expected this and our party people were very confident to win. We are going to win this seat with a huge margin," Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge said while commenting on party's lead in Erode East by-poll in Tamil Nadu.
