A new dawn is on the horizon, says Bengal’s industry bigwigs & chambers
KOLKATA: Bengal's leading industrialists and chambers on Tuesday welcomed the poll verdict and said the same party in office, in both the state and at Centre, after five decades may usher in a new dawn for industrialisation.
Ambuja Neotia Group chairman Harsh Neotia said this would give an opportunity for greater alignment in priorities and execution. "One would expect this to translate into a more cohesive acceleration in infrastructure development and in ease of doing business," he said.
Naresh Pachisia, president of Bharat Chamber of Commerce, echoed Neotia. A new dawn is on the horizon, Pachisia said, with Bengal pinning its hopes on big-ticket investments and accelerated business development and industrialisation with a new thrust on Centre-state relations.
The Merchants' Chamber of Commerce & Industry, another leading chamber, also highlighted this. "We are expecting that Bengal will have the ‘double-engine govt' for the first time in 50 years. This would accelerate development," it said.
Sanjiv Goenka, chairman of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka group, said dreams, hopes and aspirations of the people of Bengal have been reignited with this unprecedented result. "As someone who was born in Bengal, someone who has lived all my life here and someone who is going to die here, I have a deep emotional investment in the state and its progress," he added.
Sanjay Budhia, MD, Patton International Ltd, said: "The clear, considered and decisive mandate, resulting in alignment of policies at Centre and the state, will augment and fast-track momentum and progress of our state. Bengal has been our karmabhoomi. We have always been committed to Bengal and we will continue to do so. Heartiest congratulations to the new govt."
The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry extended congratulations to BJP on securing an overwhelming mandate to form govt in Bengal. "BCC&I looks forward to an environment that further strengthens investor confidence, ease of doing business, industrial development, employment generation and policy stability in the state," it said.
Rajeev Singh, director general of Indian Chamber of Commerce, said: "We are hopeful of ‘achhe din' for the state under the new govt. I am sure the new govt will reignite the growth momentum for shared prosperity and sustainable development."
