Kottayam: Two vloggers were arrested for allegedly threatening the father of a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) case accused, who was arrested recently, and attempting to extort Rs 10 lakh from him in Adoor in Pathanamthitta.The arrested were Agni Juwel, 33, of Agastikode in Anchal and Aneesh Vijayan, 35, of Thonnakkal in Thiruvananthapuram. Police arrested them from Adoor town.Sreejith, owner of a YouTube channel, along with his wife and Agni Juwel, Aneesh Vijayan and Rahim, who work with another YouTube channel based around Punalur and Anchal, allegedly claimed they obtained incriminating videos from the phone of the Pocso accused through some police personnel. Agni Juwel and Anish then repeatedly demanded and threatened the father of the accused person that Rs 10 lakh be paid to them to prevent the videos of his son being arrested by police in the Pocso case from being circulated via their channels.The complainant then informed the men that he did not have such a large amount, but after discussions they reached a settlement and he agreed to pay Rs 2.5 lakh.However, the man then filed a complaint with Adoor police. According to the police, when the two accused came to Adoor as arranged to receive over the money on Friday, police arrested them. The arrested individuals were produced in court and remanded.
