KOCHI: The faculty and alumni of Sacred Hearts College have expressed profound grief over the tragic passing of Anna Sebastian, a former Commerce student (2015-2018). Anna succumbed to alleged work-related stress at an MNC in Pune.
Priya PS, who was the class in charge during Anna's time, remembered her as a calm and diligent student who excelled academically while actively participating in college competitions. "She was always up-to-date and remained composed in class. Her exam scores were consistently high," said Priya, now an assistant professor at SD College in Alappuzha.
Vismaya CS, a close friend and classmate, described Anna as hardworking and passionate about her pursuits. "She was dedicated and confident in her abilities. It's heartbreaking that she lost her life while striving to excel at work despite the challenges she faced," Vismaya said. Ann Mariya, a school friend from Rajagiri Public School in Kalamassery, remembered Anna as a perfectionist and a bright student. Mariya recounted their last conversation, just two hours before Anna's death, during which she shared her struggles with work-related stress.
Priya also shared a poignant message from Anna's mother, Anita, which resonated deeply with the college community. In her message, Anita conveyed the grief of a mother who has lost her child. She wrote, "We have laid our precious child to rest. Only a mother who has lost her child can truly understand the pain of watching her child grow, cry, and achieve, only to face this unimaginable loss."
Anita concluded her message with the wish that no other parent would have to endure such a tragedy and expressed her gratitude for the support extended by the college community during this difficult time.
