Sunny Joseph refuses to rule out K C Venugopal as chief minister candidate
Kozhikode: KPCC president Sunny Joseph on Sunday refused to rule out possibilities of AICC general secretary K C Venugopal becoming chief minister if UDF comes to power.Speaking to television channels, Joseph said that the chief minister is not selected by checking who has the support of majority MLAs, but it would be taken after consultations with the elected MLAs. He said that AICC has a set procedure for the same. When V D Satheeshan became opposition leader, it was Mallikarjun Kharge who came representing the high command. On Venugopal becoming chief minister, Joseph said that the possibility of that happening or not is based on the opinion of the elected MLAs and the high command. He added that everyone will accept an appropriate decision based on proper consultation. Joseph added that other than unnecessary discussions in the media, the UDF has not begun discussing names for the post of chief minister. He added that discussions will not begin before the results arrive. Once the results are out, the high command representatives will call a meeting of the elected MLAs. Rahul Gandhi and Kharge would decide on who the representatives would be, he said. Joseph also said that other parties that are part of the UDF have not made any demands on deputy CM post.
