Kochi: KMRL has informed that repair work at Elamkulam Metro station building, where some concrete slabs collapsed a few months ago, is expected to begin next week. The work is anticipated to be completed soon.
A technical team from
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had conducted a detailed inspection of the building. As per DMRC's recommendations, comprehensive technical inspections were carried out using modern non-destructive testing (NDT) methods. Based on the inspection results, DMRC confirmed that there is no threat to the structural safety of the station.
However, the expert team suggested that repairs and reinforcements are necessary in some areas where the concrete collapsed.
Accordingly, a detailed methodology and outline required for the repairs have been prepared. Tender process for execution of these works has been completed.
Following the collapse of concrete slabs, KMRL conducted temporary strengthening of the structure.
