Kochi: Ernakulam central police issued a notice to a Delhi-based broker in connection with the Bhutan luxury car smuggling racket uncovered under Operation Numkhor.
The summons notice was issued to Rohit Bedi, a resident of Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi, who was accused of cheating a Kochi native of Rs 14 lakh by selling him a luxury SUV allegedly smuggled from Bhutan. The case was registered last month after a complaint by Mohammed Yahya, 22, of Edappally.

Police said the accused claimed the Toyota Land Cruiser was a former Indian Embassy vehicle to justify its competitive pricing. The vehicle was later seized by customs, which found it to be an illegal import. tnn
