Case registered against actor-TV anchor for rape

Kochi: Ernakulam North police have registered one more case against actor and television anchor Govindankutty after a woman filed a complaint that she was sexually abused by the actor by giving false promise of marriage. Earlier, North police had registered a similar case against the actor based on the complaint of another woman, but he had received anticipatory bail in the case. North police said that they have registered a case on Wednesday based on the fresh complaint. The complainant has alleged that she was sexually abused by the accused on multiple occasions in the past two years.Police said that the complaints are similar in both cases and that the complainants have alleged that the actor sexually abused them on the promise of marriage. “More details can be known only after a thorough probe,” said an officer.The complainant in the first case had alleged that she was sexually abused on multiple occasions in locations under the North police station limits. The woman had also alleged that the actor had threatened that he would make her visuals public.Man arrested for wife’s murderKochi: A 49-year-old man was arrested by Rural police for allegedly murdering his wife on Wednesday. Shaiju of Mattoor is the arrested. His wife Sunitha was found grievously injured with stab wounds at their house around 2pm on Wednesday. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. A special squad was formed to track down the accused leading to the arrest. The accused have admitted to stabbing the victim using a knife over family disputes. On Thursday, forensic and fingerprint experts examined the crime scene. Ayyampuzha inspector M Manoj, Kalady sub-inspector T B Bibin, Vipin V Pillai, S Sudhakaran, K A Polachan, and G Satheesh and senior civil police officer M V Jayanthi, were part of the team which made the arrest.Youth held for theftKochi: A 19-year-old man was arrested for stealing a buffalo on Thursday. Eloor police arrested V Pandyan, 19, of Kadungalloor for the crime. The accused had stolen the buffalo from Eloor.
