Iran has unveiled the naval Sayyad 3-G air defence missile during Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps drills in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy corridor. Launched from the Shahid Sayyad Shirazi, a Shahid Soleimani-class warship, the system reportedly offers a 150-kilometre interception range against jets, drones, patrol aircraft and certain cruise threats. Equipped with vertical launch silos enabling 360-degree coverage, the platform can fire rapidly without repositioning. Iranian officials say the missile can operate independently or integrate with wider radar networks. The deployment signals Tehran’s intent to strengthen maritime air defence as regional tensions continue to simmer. Watch
