JIND: The Jind police have registered a case against eight persons for allegedly firing at, thrashing, and urinating on the face of a youth. The incident took place behind the New Grain Market at HUDA ground in Safidon town of Jind district.
The attackers allegedly opened fire at the victim and assaulted him with iron rods. They also reportedly urinated on his face and recorded the entire incident, which was later circulated on social media, creating tension in the area.

The victim, a resident of Ward No 3 in Safidon, told the police that on the evening of Feb 16, he was sitting with his friends at HUDA ground when a youth arrived with seven of his associates and launched a sudden attack on him. He claimed that the attackers fired at him with the intention to kill. The bullet passed close to his ear, narrowly missing him.
The accused then struck him from behind on the head with an iron rod, causing him to fall face down. When he tried to get up, he was attacked again. He attempted to block the blow with his hands, but the assailants continued beating him and his friends mercilessly with rods and sticks, read the complaint.
The victim further alleged that after the assault, the accused urinated on his face and threatened him with dire consequences if he confronted them again.
The injured were initially taken to the govt hospital in Safidon and later referred to a higher medical centre. They were subsequently shifted to a hospital in Panipat for treatment. Their statements were recorded on Feb 19.
Based on the medical report, the police registered a case against eight named persons, including the main accused, under charges of attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt, rioting, unlawful assembly, criminal intimidation, and Section 25(1)(B) of the Arms Act for illegal possession of weapons.
Safidon City police have started efforts to apprehend the accused. Police officials stated that the suspects would be arrested soon and strict action would be taken. The incident sparked anger and tension in the area.
