ADM’s death case: Court posts plea for March 9

Kozhikode: Thalassery additional sessions court posted the petition, moved by the wife of former Kannur additional district magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu seeking further investigation into his death, for orders on March 9.Kannur Town police had filed a report in court stating that further investigation was not necessary. However, Manjusha raised suspicions over the police inquiry into the case and filed the petition for further investigation.
Babu was found hanging at his official residence on Oct 15, 2024. A special investigation team probed the case and submitted the chargesheet in March 2025, naming CPM leader and then Kannur district panchayat president P P Divya as the sole accused.The police finding was that Divya, after hatching a conspiracy to defame him, accused Babu of being corrupt during his farewell function in Kannur. The probe team accused Divya of gate-crashing the event. With the intention of defaming Babu, Divya invited a local channel to the event, collected the channel's visuals of her speech against the ADM and circulated them from her mobile phone. Manjusha sought further investigation, alleging that the police had not investigated a larger conspiracy.
