Kochi: Muvattupuzha vigilance court issued summons to all four accused, including actor Jayasurya, in a case related to the alleged encroachment of Chilavannur Lake at Kadavanthra. Vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (VACB) had earlier filed a chargesheet against the accused. The accused have been directed to appear in court on December 29. Former building inspector KP Ramachandran Nair and assistant executive engineer PG Girija Devi at Kochi Corporation’s zonal office in Vyttila are the first and second accused. Actor Jayasurya is the third accused while one George, the architect of the actor’s house, is named as the fourth accused. The chargesheet was filed last month.
According to VACB, Nair and Devi colluded with the other accused and issued building permit and occupancy certificate as a result of their conspiracy. Vigilance alleged that through the crime, encroachment and illegal construction on puramboke land was facilitated. It claimed that the actor constructed a building by encroaching on puramboke land, built a compound wall on kayal puramboke and also a boat jetty by encroaching on a portion of the backwaters. TNN
