Actor arrested in cheque bounce case

Kochi: Ernakulam Rural police arrested an actor accused in a cheque bounce case on Tuesday. The arrested person is Kalabhavan Soby George.According to Oonnukal police, the accused has several cases registered against him across the state. The cases against him are for hawala transactions, visa fraud and financial scams. Police said he has been engaged in fraudulent activities for the past 20 years. Sources said a bus owned by him was earlier seized in a joint operation by police and motor vehicle department. Police said the vehicle's tyres were removed to prevent its seizure, forcing the officers to use a crane to attach it. The seizure was connected to a 2013 case in which he allegedly cheated a Koonammavu native of Rs 2.50 lakh by promising his son a job in a US supermarket.
