Women take out vehicle rally in support of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam
Kanpur: Ahead of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ (Women’s Empowerment Bill), which is set to be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, mayor Pramila Pandey led a vehicle rally comprising women from the Municipal Corporation Guest House on Wednesday evening. The rally commenced at the Municipal Corporation Guest House and concluded at the Maharishi Valmiki Upvan.
On this occasion addressing women, the mayor said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuously taking decisions in the interest of women, thereby not only granting them rights but also empowering them.
Terming the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam as the ‘greatest decision of the 21st century,’ the mayor said that, through this legislation---which enhances representation of half the population in the legislative bodies—the Narendra Modi government is advancing the spirit of women’s empowerment.
BJP district president Anil Dixit, leader of the corporators group Naveen Pandit, corporator Vidya Vandana, Gunjan Sharma, and Aarti Gautam, along with district president of the women’s wing Anita Tripathi, were present in large numbers in the rally.
The girl students of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University on Wednesday organized an awareness drive on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam 2023 through poster exhibitions, human chains and slogan campaigns across the campus.
The students prepared creative posters highlighting the theme of women’s empowerment, which were displayed at various locations within the university. They also shared inspirational messages and quotes to spread awareness among peers and visitors.
The programme, conducted under the “Abhiyan” campaign, was attended by the Dean of Students Welfare as the chief guest. The event was organized under the leadership of Associate DSW and NSS Atal Unit Programme Officer, Mamta Tiwari.
Addressing the gathering, DSW Anshu Yadav and Mamta Tiwari spoke on the growing role of women in society and emphasized the importance of self-reliance and safety.
The day also marked the conclusion of “Astra”, a self-defence training programme conducted as part of the initiative. A judo-karate team led by Vijay presented a demonstration of self-defence techniques, which received appreciation from the audience.
The programme concluded with students forming a human chain on the theme of ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ and marching towards the university’s main gate. Slogans promoting women’s empowerment were raised throughout the rally, spreading the message across the campus.
