Woman killed, sister-in-law critical after tractor rams bike in Unnao

Kanpur: A 22-year-old newlywed woman was killed and her 16-year-old sister-in-law was seriously injured after a tractor rammed into their bike near the Naushehra cut of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao at around 2am late Saturday, police said.According to police, a couple was travelling on a bike with their teenage girl to visit a temple when a tractor coming from the opposite direction hit their bike with great force near the Naushehra cut. The impact threw all the riders onto the road, leaving them seriously injured.The woman sustained critical injuries and died on the spot. The teenage sister-in-law was also seriously injured. Bystanders alerted the police, following which the police and a health department team reached the spot.The injured girl was rushed to a hospital and, after initial treatment, was referred to the district hospital due to her critical condition.The body of the woman was sent for post-mortem. It was reported that she was married about 3 months ago.The tractor driver fled the scene after the accident, and police were searching for him.
