Kanpur: In a joint operation, crime branch and Kalyanpur police on Tuesday arrested two people involved in trafficking of Shivendra Singh from Kalyanpur to Myanmar. The authorities are questioning the suspects for details of other gang members.
On Nov 15, a complaint was lodged at Kalyanpur police station by Dipendra Singh regarding trafficking of his brother Shivendra. According to the report, Shivendra was employed at a shoe company's marketing office in Dada Nagar, Delhi, where he encountered Sandeep Kumar Sharma from Faridkot, Punjab. Sandeep allegedly deceived Shivendra in name of job sending him to Thailand before sending him to Myanmar without proper documents.
After lodging a case, the authorities issued notices to suspects summoning them for statements. DCP West Rajesh Kumar Singh reported that investigations linked Sandeep to Karandeep Singh from Amritsar, Punjab after which the police reached Punjab.
The suspects presented themselves at Kalyanpur police station on Nov 26 and confessed to their crime.
DCP Singh said that Sandeep previously worked in immigration with Raman Deep Sharma, who passed away during Covid pandemic. Recently, he learnt about jobs in Thailand offering Rs 60,000-80,000 along with accommodation and meals. He collaborated with Karandeep Singh for an online interview of Shivendra. They facilitated his travel to Bangkok, Thailand, from where he was send to Myanmar without documentation. The police stated that investigations in the case continues. tnn
