Kanpur: The National Cadet Corps (
NCC) will embark on Special River Sailing Expedition, along the sacred Ganga River, commencing from Kanpur and culminating in Kolkata, on Oct 21
The expedition will be inaugurated with great fanfare at Atal Ghat Kanpur at 8 am, celebrating India's 75th year as a sovereign Republic, leading up to the 76th Republic Day.
The theme of this initiative is ‘Bhartiye Nadiya – Sanskritiyon Ki Janani,' which underscores the profound significance of India's rivers as the progenitors and nurturers of its illustrious civilization.
According to Shantanu Pratap Singh, PRO Defense, the primary objective of this expedition is to highlight the pivotal role played by India's majestic rivers in fostering and sustaining its magnificent civilization.
Furthermore, it aims to sensitize the citizenry about the pressing need to safeguard, preserve, and revitalize these vital lifelines and crucial water resources, in harmony with the 'Namami Gange' project.
The expedition is segmented into three principal legs, encompassing the NCC Directorates of UP, Bihar & Jharkhand, and West Bengal & Sikkim. The UP leg is further subdivided into Kanpur to Prayagraj, Prayagraj to Varanasi, and Varanasi to Buxar.
A team of 12 officers and 216 NCC Senior Division & Senior Wing Naval NCC cadets will participate in the UP leg of the event. In total, 528 Naval Wing NCC cadets from all 17 NCC Directorates nationwide are participating in this expedition, which will be undertaken in DK Whaler boats of the NCC.
