Kanpur: A dispute over the serving of sweets at a wedding ceremony in Kanpur turned violent late Saturday night in Pasi Kheda village under the Saadh police station area after some guests allegedly demanded extra gulab jamuns. What began as a minor argument soon turned the venue into a battlefield, with guests exchanging blows and attacking each other with sticks, clubs and stones.
The wedding procession had arrived at Devi Prasad Kureel’s house for his daughter’s marriage. After the guests finished dinner, the host family sat down to eat. While serving, a worker was instructed to give two gulab jamuns to each guest.
However, Chhotu Kureel and his brother Rohit demanded four gulab jamuns each. When their request was denied, an argument broke out between the two sides and quickly turned violent. Both groups allegedly attacked each other with sticks, clubs and stones.
One of the guests, Satyapal Kureel, sustained a serious head injury, while another youth was also injured in the attack. Though locals eventually managed to calm the situation, chaos prevailed at the wedding venue for some time.
