Dy jailor of Jhansi jail dies of heart attack

Jhansi: Deputy jailor of Jhansi district jail died after suffering a heart attack on Sunday night.Surendra Kumar, 56, hailed from Bangla village in Moradabad and was transferred to Jhansi from Ghaziabad district jail a few months ago. According to jail officials, he supervised the daily morning and night roll calls. On Sunday, he took the night roll call and went to his residence within the campus. Family members said he was preparing to attend the Republic Day Parade on Monday and was readying his uniform. Late at night, he complained of uneasiness and collapsed. He was taken to Jhansi Medical College, where doctors declared him dead. They said Kumar suffered a heart attack and could not be revived. Jail superintendent Vinod Kumar said the family took his body to his ancestral home for last rites.
