Man found dead on cot; wife, her lover arrested for murder
JAISALMER: Police have arrested a 23-year-old woman and a man for allegedly strangling her husband in Kharapar village of Rajasthan's Balotra district.
The accused were identified as Anu Devi and Amraram, a Tilwara resident posted as a teacher at a govt school in the Chidiya area. The victim, Mahendra Meghwal, 21, was found dead at his home in Malwa Goylan under the Gida police station limits.
Station House Officer Dalpatsingh Chaudhary said Anu had married Mahendra about three years ago, but the relationship was strained and the couple often fought. She had been living at her maternal home for a long period and had returned to her in-laws' house only a few days ago.
Police said Anu came in contact with Amraram while staying at her maternal home.
According to Mahendra's family, the couple argued Friday night. When Mahendra did not come out of his room for a long time, relatives grew suspicious and entered the room. They found him dead on a cot with marks on his neck and alerted police.
Gida police inspected the scene and sent the body for post-mortem at the CHC mortuary before handing it over to the family.
After Mahendra's brother lodged a complaint, police detained Anu and Amraram for questioning. Police said the two later confessed to strangling Mahendra and were arrested.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
