RSRTC flags urgent upgrades at Transport Nagar bus stand
Jaipur: A Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) team Monday inspected three city bus stands and flagged the need for immediate upgrades at the Transport Nagar bus stand, including measures to prevent roadside waste from entering the premises and the creation of proper waiting areas for passengers.
The team visited the Sindhi Camp bus terminal, Transport Nagar bus stand and Durgapura bus stand. The inspection highlighted deficiencies in sanitation and passenger amenities, particularly at the Transport Nagar facility.
“The inspection was conducted under directions from the roadways headquarters. Issues related to sanitation and passenger amenities have come to light at the Transport Nagar bus stand. A report detailing the gaps identified during the inspection will be submitted to the headquarters,” an official who was part of the team said.
Officials said that improved seating arrangements, additional drinking water facilities, shaded waiting areas, and proper lighting for commuters would be recommended for the bus stand.
“At present, two earthen pots and a water cooler are available for passengers. We will recommend approval of funds for additional shaded seating facilities,” the official said.
The Transport Nagar bus stand became operational in April last year as part of efforts to decongest Narayan Singh Circle, which earlier served as a major boarding point for private and state-run buses. After the traffic police declared Narayan Singh Circle a no-parking zone, bus operators were directed to shift passenger pick-up operations to the Transport Nagar facility on Agra Road.
