Raj min says LPG stocks adequate, deploys vigilance teams to curb hoarding
Jaipur: Rajasthan govt said Thursday domestic LPG stocks in the state are sufficient and urged consumers not to panic over supply amid concerns triggered by recent international developments.
Food and civil supplies minister Sumit Godara said vigilance teams have been activated across all districts to prevent hoarding, illegal storage and diversion of domestic gas cylinders. District collectors, SPs and departmental officials are carrying out regular inspections to ensure smooth supply.
According to daily reports from district-level committees monitoring distribution, no cases of black marketing or illegal hoarding of domestic cylinders have been reported so far, he said.
Godara said domestic LPG cylinders are being delivered within two to three days of booking, and all deliveries are being made through an OTP-based system to ensure cylinders reach genuine consumers.
He appealed to consumers to book refills only after the stipulated period — 25 days after the previous delivery in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas. He also advised them to book only through authorised channels such as mobile apps, websites, WhatsApp or IVRS, instead of visiting gas agencies.
The minister said point delivery at gas agencies has been temporarily stopped under the current measures.
He added that under the LPG Control Order issued on March 9, the supply of commercial gas cylinders was halted and, on the directions of chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, commercial LPG will now be supplied only to educational and medical institutions.
Consumers facing supply issues or noticing illegal activity related to LPG distribution have been advised to lodge complaints on helpline numbers 112, 14435 and 181.
