The incident took place on Feb 6 at a house under the Malpura Gate police station area. According to police sources, Sadab, a native of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, married Ruksar Bano (19), a resident of Ambedkar Colony in Malpura Gate, in July 2025. The couple had an eight-month-old daughter, Sahnaz.About six days before the incident, Sadab came to his in-laws' home in Jaipur with his wife and child. On the morning of Feb 6, an argument broke out between the couple over returning to their village. When Ruksar asked to stay for 4 to 5 more days, Sadab allegedly assaulted her and tried to strangle her. Her brother, Sohil, intervened and pushed him away.Police said Sadab then attacked Sohil with a steel kettle, striking him on the head.
Neighbours rushed in after Ruksar raised an alarm and separated them.According to the complaint, Sadab then snatched his daughter from Sohil's lap, went into a room, and locked the door from inside. He allegedly slit the infant's throat with scissors, wrapped her body in a blanket, attacked his own throat, and then attempted to hang himself. When repeated knocking drew no response, family members and neighbours broke open the door. They found Sadab hanging and brought him down. The child was discovered wrapped in a blood-soaked blanket. She was rushed to hospital but died during treatment.Police said a murder case was registered against Sadab. He was initially admitted to SMS Hospital in an unconscious state after his suicide attempt and was arrested following his discharge. Further investigation is underway.
