Farmers organisation slams Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma over ‘25–30 day work’ remark
JAIPUR: The Kisan Mahapanchayat Sunday sharply criticised Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma of “insulting the farming community” with controversial remarks about farmers working only “25-30 days a year”.Alleging that the CM was attempting to deflect attention from the govt’s failure to ensure fair remuneration for agricultural produce, Kisan Panchayat president Rampal Jat said the CM should withdraw his “insensitive and condemnable” remarks and apologise to the people of Rajasthan.Jat, said despite repeated claims by Sharma and his party of being connected to the farming community, his recent remarks “exposed the reality.”The farmers’ group pointed out disparities between input costs and market returns, claiming bajra seeds were purchased at prices as high as ₹500 per kg, while the produce was sold for less than ₹20 per kg. Similar concerns were raised over other crops.
