BSF nabs Pakistani intruder in Barmer border area
Jaisalmer: A Pakistani national who allegedly crossed into Indian territory along the Indo-Pak border in Barmer district was detained by the Border Security Force (BSF) and handed over to Dhanau Police for questioning Thursday. Officials said the man had crossed the border on Monday night near the Ashoka BOP in the Saroope Ka Tala area and moved nearly 8 km inside Indian territory before being caught by BSF personnel.Chohtan DSP Jetharam identified the man as Mohammad Avesh Khan (26), a resident of Samoon village in Tharparkar district in Pakistan. He said no suspicious material was recovered from him and added that multiple security agencies are questioning him.Police and security agencies initiated an investigations suspecting that the man might be carrying prohibited material. A search was conducted in nearly 10-km radius following the apprehension of the man, but nothing incriminating was found. Sources said only a pouch of tobacco was recovered from him. Security agencies are continuing detailed interrogation to rule out any other motive. During preliminary interrogation, the man claimed he had entered India after a dispute with his family over marriage. Officials said his statements are being verified.Social media posts circulating in Pakistan also indicated that the man had gone missing Monday evening and had not returned since then, with his family appealing for information about his whereabouts.
