Udaipur: Seventy child labourers, belonging to Udaipur, were rescued by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of Udaipur from Surat city in Gujarat Thursday.
Acting on information, the Anti-Human Trafficking Team coordinated with Surat police and secured their release.
Surat police also registered a case against the employer.
Udaipur District Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan visited the Kishori Sudhar Grih (Juvenile Correction Home) Friday to meet the children. The children will now be integrated into the mainstream. Their family members were also summoned, counselled and the children were handed over.
After interacting with the children at Kishori Sudhar Grih, Duhan stated that all the rescued children are below 14 years of age. The Department of Child Empowerment and voluntary organisations are now working on the initiative of the police department to connect these children with education and various govt schemes.
