Woman dies of gunshot injury in Neemuch under suspicious circumstances

Indore: A woman died under suspicious circumstances near Risala Masjid in Cantonment police station area of Neemuch. Preliminary investigation revealed a gunshot injury to her head, though her family claimed she fell from the stairs.Upon receiving the information around 10 pm on Thursday, Cantonment police station in charge Pushpa Chauhan reached the spot and sent the injured woman to district hospital, where doctors declared her dead. An X-ray confirmed the bullet wound.Additional SP Naval Singh Sisodia also reached the hospital and later inspected the scene of the incident.Sources said the woman, Tarannum, had an altercation with her husband during which he allegedly fired at her. The accused has been absconding since the incident. Police officers, including CSP Kiran Chauhan, questioned family members, who have not been forthcoming with details.The ASP confirmed that the woman was brought to the hospital with a gunshot injury and was declared dead on arrival. He said several suspicious items were recovered from the spot. The body of the woman was handed over to family members after a postmortem examination. The death has been recorded and the accused will be arrested at the earliest opportunity.
