Watch IPL on massive LED screens at 2-day fan park set up at Nehru Stadium in city
Indore: Indore’s cricket fans, disappointed after the city did not get to host any Indian Premier League matches this season, will finally get a chance to soak in the IPL atmosphere as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is setting up an IPL Fan Park at Nehru Stadium this weekend.
Entry to the event will be free for all spectators. The two-day event aims to recreate the excitement of a live IPL venue with giant LED screens, music, food stalls, entertainment activities and fan engagement programmes. Organisers are expecting nearly 10,000 spectators across both days.
BCCI senior manager Mohan Gajula said, “A massive 18 feet by 32 feet LED screen will be installed for live screening. Separate seating zones have also been planned for women, children and senior citizens, along with special arrangements for differently-abled visitors and pregnant women. Free drinking water and security arrangements will be available throughout the event.”
On Saturday evening, fans will witness the Kolkata Knight Riders versus Gujarat Titans clash from 7:30 pm onwards. Sunday will feature a double-header, beginning with Punjab Kings taking on Indore’s own Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru at 3:30 pm, followed by Delhi Capitals versus Rajasthan Royals at 7:30 pm.
“Five to six fan engagement activities will be conducted during the matches. Every match will also feature lucky draws and winners will receive original jerseys signed by IPL players,” Gajula added.
MPCA secretary Sudhir Asnani said the initiative would give local cricket enthusiasts the feeling of watching IPL matches inside a stadium, especially those who have not been able to attend matches at IPL venues.
The IPL Fan Park initiative has been launched by the BCCI across nearly 50 selected cities in the country to bring the tournament closer to fans. Besides live match screenings, the Indore venue will also have merchandise counters, food and beverage stalls and entertainment zones for families and cricket enthusiasts.
