Two arrested with MD drugs worth over Rs 11 lakh
Indore: Khajrana police on Wednesday arrested two men with over 110 gram of MD drugs worth more than Rs 11 lakh in a crackdown against narcotics smuggling. Additional DCP Amrendra Singh said that acting on a tip-off, a police team spotted two suspects near an open ground behind Dastur Delight in Khajrana. On seeing the team, the suspects tried to flee, but were caught after a chase. During their search, police recovered MD drugs from their possession.The accused were identified as 38-year-old Shah Nawaz Ahmed Khan, a tailor by profession and a resident of Ahmed Nagar and 29-year-old Shahrukh Ali, a painter from the same locality. Preliminary questioning revealed that both were addicted to drugs and were selling narcotics at high prices after buying them at lower rates to fund their addiction and make quick money.Police have registered a case under sections 8 and 22 of the NDPS Act and launched further investigation. Authorities said the accused are being questioned to trace the source of the seized drugs and identify their network. Efforts are also underway to find their criminal background and other associates.
