Revamped Terminal-1 opens in Indore

Indore: The renovated Terminal-1 (T-1) of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport was virtually inaugurated by Union civil aviation minister K Ram Mohan Naidu, along with chief minister Mohan Yadav, who was present at airport, on Sunday. The flight operations from the terminal are scheduled to commence in April.Spread across 6,000 square metres, the facility has been designed to handle 15 lakh passengers annually, pushing the airport's total capacity to a staggering 50 lakh per annum. The renovation project which lasted two years and cost Rs 50 crore, was primarily meant to de-clutter the airport and enhance passenger amenities.Speaking on the occasion, the CM unveiled govt's ‘150-75-45' transformative connectivity roadmap for the state's skyways--- a commercial airport at every 150 km, an airstrip at every 75 km, and a helipad at every 45 km."With upcoming airports in Ujjain and Shivpuri, the state will soon have 10 functional airports. We have successfully operationalised airports in Rewa, Satna, and Datia in just two years," the CM said, adding that with massive central packages for road connectivity and expressways, Madhya Pradesh is rapidly evolving into the nation's logistics hub."Our goal is to ensure that every citizen, even those wearing hawai chappals, can afford to fly," CM Yadav said. He presented the airport officials with Quality Certificate of Registration issued by America Quality Council to Indore Airport.The CM also highlighted success of air ambulance service launched in the state.
