Indore: Tense moments were witnessed in Shiv Vatika township on Sunday as angry residents confronted a police team, who had brought the father-son duo, accused in case of killing of a woman resident, to the crime scene on Sunday.The woman, Shampa Pathak, was run over inside the township on Wednesday night by 18-year-old Mohnish Chaudhary after a dispute over renting of penthouse on AirBnB. He and his father Kuldeep were arrested and taken on a two-day remand. They were also accused of attempting to run over the building's watchwoman, Renuka, during the incident.Ahead of their court production on Sunday, police took the accused to the building for spot verification and identification. As soon as they arrived, a large number of residents gathered, many of them visibly angry.Police questioned the accused regarding the parking area and sequence of events, while residents watched closely. The situation grew tense within minutes, with people shouting and demanding strict punishment. As tempers flared, police decided to quickly move the accused out of the premises.Even outside the gate, the crowd remained agitated. Some residents tried to approach the accused and expressed their anger openly, forcing police to act swiftly and escort them away to avoid escalation.
Officials later produced the accused in court as their remand ended on Sunday. Police said the primary investigation in the case was completed, though statements of a few residents are still to be recorded.Indore Municipal Corporation officials had visited the building on Saturday and pasted notices on the two penthouses linked to the accused. They have been given seven days to respond, failing which demolition action may be initiated.
