No rainfall, clear sky raise day temp to over 30 Celsius
Indore: Sunday morning saw clear skies in Indore while the day temperature climbed to 30.6 degrees Celsius, which was average. Meteorologists predict that the sunny weather will continue for the next two days. However, a strong weather system is expected to activate by September 18, which is expected to bring widespread rainfall to various parts of the Malwa and Nimar regions.
Indore may experience light drizzle in some areas starting from September 17 onwards. Currently, a low-pressure system has developed over the Bay of Bengal and is advancing towards Madhya Pradesh. It is expected to cover the state within the next 24 hours. Additionally, the monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation are active, but their impact will not be felt in Indore.
“The southeastern parts of MP are likely to witness heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday while the system will move towards central and western MP on September 18. The Malwa Nimar region is expected to witness a heavy spell of rainfall on September 18 and the system is expected to start fading by September 19 onwards,” said Met scientist, VS Yadav, from IMD Bhopal Circle.
Nil rainfall was reported in Indore on Sunday and only 0.1 mm of rainfall was reported in the city in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning. The minimum temperature, however, dropped to 20.1 degrees Celsius, which was a degree below normal. This is the first time this month so far that the night temperature dropped to 20 degrees Celsius, which was 2.7 degrees lower than Friday night’s temperature recorded at 22.8 degrees Celsius.
In the days leading up to Sunday, there was no rainfall in the city on Thursday and Friday also. Saturday saw clear skies until the evening, followed by brief light showers in some parts of the city, recording only 0.1 mm of rainfall. The day's maximum temperature increased by 2 degrees Celsius to 30.4 degrees Celsius compared to the previous day.
So far, the city has received over 793.8 mm of rainfall this season, against the average quota of 845.4 mm.
