Nephew planned Rs 60 lakh theft in Banganga after couple left for Vaishno Devi
Indore: A Rs 60 lakh burglary in Indore took a new turn, with police identifying the couple's nephew as the alleged mastermind behind the theft of cash and jewellery from his uncle's house in Banganga area.Investigators said Rohit alias Golu, nephew of Vinod Yadav, orchestrated the Feb 7 break-in at the house located behind Baneshwari Kund in Dagar Mohalla. The accused was taken into custody.
Yadav and his wife travelled to Vaishno Devi when burglars decamped with Rs 35 lakh in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 25 lakh. The couple discovered the theft after returning to Indore on Feb 9 and alerted police.Investigators tracked the accused through CCTV footage and call detail records. Cameras captured two men entering the house while Golu was seen standing outside. Further scrutiny of footage from nearby lanes and technical analysis helped police zero in on him and his associates.During questioning, Golu allegedly admitted that he conspired with friends Lucky Borasi and Sudhanshu Prajapat, along with another accomplice, to execute the burglary on the night of Feb 6-7. Police sources said the group remained in constant touch over mobile phones before and after the crime and exchanged messages shortly before assembling that night.During the probe it came to fore that Golu informed his friends that his uncle recently sold a plot in Ramnagar and kept Rs 35 lakh in cash at home for a prospective property purchase. The information allegedly triggered the plan. After the theft, Lucky, Sudhanshu and another accomplice allegedly fled with the cash and jewellery without giving Golu any share. No stolen property was recovered from him so far.Police officials said efforts are on to locate the absconding accused and recover the stolen assets.
