Indore: Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav on Sunday hit out at state Congress chief Jitu Patwari, questioning why the party had not taken a decisive action against the corporators who reportedly refused to sing Vande Mataram during Indore Municipal Corporation's (IMC) budget session.
"The statements made by both corporators to media are public; it is unclear what their disciplinary committee is still investigating," Bhargav said. He asked the Congress to clarify whether Vande Mataram was sung in their own offices and what penalties were imposed on those who abstain.
On the issue of corruption, the mayor described Patwari's rhetoric as "strange and improper," suggesting that those rejected by the public should present facts rather than making theatrical challenges. "If there are allegations of corruption, they should be made public with evidence," Bhargav said.
