INDORE: Son of a local BJP leader was stabbed to death allegedly after a clash between two groups near Mhow town on Wednesday night.
The clash took place over digging of a borewell at a plot in Matth Colony, prompting district administration to launch an early morning drive and demolish at least six constructions belonging to the suspects.
“The deceased is identified as Sujeet Singh Chouhan. But the prime accused behind the incident, Raju Khatik, has been arrested, and a hunt to nab others is on,” Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra said in a tweet on Thursday morning.
Mishra said that at two places, the illegal constructions of the accused are being demolished, and they were searching for other illegal properties as well.
“This is CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government, and none of the criminals, even if they are big one, will be spared,” he said.
Police officials said that the deceased was the son of local BJP leader Udal Singh Chouhan, and the incident was reported at Pigdambar area in limits of Kishanganj police station on Wednesday late night.
Enraged over the incident, local villagers held a road-blockade at night leading to traffic jams and congestion on Indore-Pithampur route.
SP (rural) Bhagwat Singh Birade said that there was a borewell digging work going on at a private plot in Matth Colony area when Sujit got into an altercation with a person identified as Kuldeep Pawar for failing to prevent dust from spreading in the area.
The argument soon turned into a scuffle, leading to a clash between two groups, and during the fight Sujit was allegedly stabbed in stomach and chest and he died on the spot. Four others were also injured in the clash, and were admitted to a hospital.
“Seven accused have been identified and three of them have been arrested. Efforts to nab others are on,” said Birade.
Following the incident, a joint team of police and district administration reached Gurjakhedi area at around 7.00am on Thursday morning and demolished houses of the accused.
ADM Pawan Jain said that six constructions including five residential ones and a commercial one which belonged to the accused have been demolished.
“All these constructions were found to be illegal, and on the basis of which, demolished,” said Jain.
