Mhow: Pithampur Sector 3 police registered a case of online fraud worth Rs 7.51 lakh after a Ghatabillod resident was allegedly duped in the name of a Kaun Banega Crorepati lottery on Wednesday in Mhow.
The IO of the case, sub inspector Sanjay Purohit, told TOI, "Shivaji Pawar, 65, a resident of Trimurti Nagar Colony in Ghatabillod, received a call, where the caller introduced himself as an official of Kaun Banega Crorepati. He told Shivaji that he has won a lottery and asked him to provide his bank account number. On giving details, 2.3 lakh was deducted from his one account, while 5.21 lakh was deducted from another account. He lost a total of 7.51 lakh in the fraud."
Purohit said that the investigation is on and, as the matter is of cyber fraud, it is being forwarded to the cyber cell. tnn
