Indore: Indoreans welcomed the New Year with lively celebrations, colourful lighting and midnight gatherings across major public spaces and entertainment hubs in the city.

"We came out as a family for dinner and stayed back for the countdown. It felt special to celebrate in the open with so many people around," said Radhika Rathore, who reached Chhappan Dukan.
Police and civic authorities made extensive preparations to ensure that the celebrations remained safe and well organised. "We usually avoid crowded places, but this year we felt comfortable stepping out because the arrangements looked disciplined," said software professional Karan Raipuriya, who joined the celebrations with family.
