Indore family on way home from Nashik robbed near Khalghat toll booth
Mhow: A group of five to six armed men robbed a family, which was on its way to Indore from Nashik in Maharashtra. The accused made away with a gold chain worth Rs 2 lakh and damaged the car the family was travelling. The incident took place on the Agra-Bombay National highway, a few hundred metres from the Khalghat toll booth.Dhamnod police station sub-inspector Sawan Muwel told TOI that the complainant, Manoj, 55, a resident of Scheme No 71 in Indore, had gone for a visit to Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik with his family. After worshipping there, he along with his wife Sangita Gupta, son Atharv Gupta and daughter Ashi Gupta, returned to Indore in their car. Atharv was driving the car and just after crossing the Khalghat toll booth, he stopped the car, apprehending that there was some problem with it. He parked the car and as soon as he sat inside again to move, a group of five to six men armed with sticks, rods and sharp-edged weapons surrounded the car and tried to open the doors.The doors were locked, so they could not open them, after which they broke the glass panes on all sides and snatched the gold chain, which Sangita was wearing around her neck. Thereafter, they fled the spot. Following the incident, the family reached Dhamnod police station and lodged a complaint.
