IIM Indore to roll out new AI, machine learning courses from 2026-27
Indore: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore will introduce a new set of artificial intelligence and machine learning-focused electives from the 2026-27 academic session, as management institutes increasingly revamp curricula to meet rising demand for AI-ready professionals across industries.
The proposed courses likely to begin from the new academic session that starts from July include ‘Communicating with/about AI: Ethics, Accountability and the (Human) Manager’, ‘Machine Learning with Business Applications’ and ‘Regression Analysis.’ The new electives will be integrated into the institute’s postgraduate management programmes.
“Our objective at IIM Indore is to ensure that management education remains aligned with the rapidly evolving business landscape shaped by artificial intelligence, analytics and digital transformation,” IIM Indore director Prof Himanshu Rai said.
“The emphasis is not only on understanding technology but also on applying it responsibly in areas such as strategy, marketing, HR, operations and decision-making,” said Rai.
The institute has already expanded its AI and analytics curriculum in its PGP programmes over the past year with electives such as ‘Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Business’, ‘Introduction to Generative AI and NLP’, ‘Gen AI Applications in Marketing and Business’ and ‘Enterprise AI Transformation: Strategy, Consulting and Leadership’.
The institute said it is simultaneously witnessing growing demand for AI courses and this prompted to launch AI-led executive education programmes among working professionals and industry leaders. Currently seven executive programmes related to artificial intelligence, business analytics, digital transformation and AI-driven leadership development are being run.
According to institute officials, these executive programmes currently have 766 active or certified participant enrolments, reflecting increasing industry focus on AI upskilling and reskilling initiatives.
