IIM-I honours students, alumni ahead of 27th convocation

Indore: The Indian Institute of Management, Indore, (IIM-I) on Friday began a pre-convocation ceremony that recognised students and alumni for academic achievements and professional impact, ahead of the main graduation ceremony scheduled for Saturday.The ceremony brought together faculty members, alumni and graduating participants as the institute acknowledged top-performing students and campus leaders. It also recognised alumni who have built influential careers across business, technology, entrepreneurship and public service.During the event, director Himanshu Rai felicitated student committee coordinators and presented certificates to students who secured top academic positions across programmes."The pre-convocation ceremony is a meaningful occasion for us to recognise the dedication, leadership and achievements of our students and alumni. Their commitment to excellence and contribution to the institute's ecosystem make us immensely proud," Rai said.The institute also announced the Alumni Awards 2025, recognising graduates who have made notable contributions in their respective fields.Rahul Razdan from the institute's first PGP batch (1998-2000) was honoured for his contribution to strengthening global alumni engagement and his work in the digital media and gaming ecosystem.Gunajit Brahma, a social entrepreneur, received the entrepreneur award for building ventures that promote climate action and sustainable agribusiness while connecting small farmers to international markets.Chetan Rai, an alumnus serving in the chief minister's office in Gujarat, was recognised for his work in governance and policy initiatives, while Ity Jain, who works in strategic partnerships at Google India, was honoured for her role in supporting startups and technology partnerships.Kunal Purohit, president at Tech Mahindra was recognised for leadership in emerging technology businesses, while Akila Moorthy, director of strategy, operations and analytics for Google Payments in California was honoured for her work in global digital financial ecosystems.The institute will confer degrees on participants from eight academic programmes during its 27th convocation on March 28. In total, more than 790 participants are expected to graduate this year.BCG India chairman Janmejaya Sinha will attend the convocation as chief guest and address the graduating cohort. The pre-convocation celebrations also featured a cultural performance by Prince Dance Group.
