Holkar college to introduce new courses, shift to full automation
Indore: Govt Holkar Science College will roll out two new postgraduate programmes from the upcoming academic session. The institution will introduce MA in Yoga and MSc in Bioinformatics as regular courses for the first time, with admissions conducted through the state's online process. The MA Yoga programme will have 40 seats, while MSc Bioinformatics will offer 80 seats. Both courses will be included in higher education department's online admission system from this session, with seats allotted strictly on merit.College officials noted that demand for these courses had been building steadily over the past three years, prompting their introduction after all necessary approvals were secured. The college has maintained a consistent pace of academic expansion, adding more than 10 specialisations across BSc and MSc streams over the past five years. In recent years, postgraduate offerings have also widened, including new MA specialisations. On average, two new PG courses are introduced each year, reflecting evolving student interest. The college continues to record some of the highest cut-offs in the district. Alongside Govt. Law College, it remains among the few institutions where admission cut-offs often cross 90 percent. In several BSc specialisations, first and second round cut-offs exceed 90 percent, while most courses remain in the 80 to 90 percent range. In a parallel move, the college is preparing to implement a fully automated system before July 1, ahead of the new academic session. The system will digitise all academic and administrative processes, allowing students to complete admissions, attendance, examination forms, project submissions, fee payments, and access results and marksheets entirely online.Principal Anamika Jain said that the automation project was in its final stages and would be fully operational within three to four months. Once implemented, students will only need to visit campus for classes, with all other processes handled remotely, reducing delays and long queues while improving overall efficiency.
