Family land dispute leads to murder, two arrested

Indore: A family land dispute in Mandsaur ended in a brutal killing of a man and arrest of his two nephews in Sakhtali village.The man, Shankarlal Patidar, was found dead on a kutcha road near Bilatri on the morning of March 27. His son, Jivan Patidar, informed police after discovering the body with severe injuries in neck and on head caused by a sharp-edged weapon. A case of murder was registered against unidentified persons.During the investigation, suspicion turned towards the victim's relatives. Police found that one of the accused, Arjun Patidar, had threatened the victim's son a day before the incident. Questioning of the suspects led to the arrest of Baleshwar Patidar, 26, and Nanalal Patidar, 24, both residents of Sakhtali, while Arjun Patidar is absconding.Police said the accused, along with Arjun, had planned the killing to settle a long-standing dispute over a 7-acre ancestral land parcel. The land is also part of an ongoing civil court case. Investigators said the accused wanted control over the property and allegedly attacked Shankarlal with an axe. The weapon used in the crime and a motorcycle have been seized.
