Noida International Airport Inauguration Live Updates: 'India tackling fuel crisis with full strength': PM Narendra Modi at Noida airport inauguration; set to handle 1.2 crore passengers annually

Noida Jewar Airport Inauguration Live Updates: A major addition to India’s aviation network is set to take shape as Noida International Airport in Jewar prepares for its formal inauguration on Saturday. The launch is expected to significantly expand air travel capacity in the Delhi-NCR region while opening new avenues for connectivity and economic activity in western Uttar Pradesh. Narendra Modi will lead the inauguration ceremony, including a walkthrough of the terminal and an address to a large gathering comprising residents and visitors from across nearby districts.

Security arrangements for the event are among the most extensive seen in the region. A five-tier security ring with nearly 5,000 personnel — including UP Police, PAC, RAF, ATS, and CISF — has been deployed. The Special Protection Group is coordinating the overall security framework. Measures include frisking, baggage screening, identity checks, anti-sabotage drills, bomb detection, anti-mine sweeps, and full area sanitisation. Anti-drone systems are monitoring the airspace, while sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads are stationed across the venue, which has been declared a ‘red’ zone.

Traffic and parking plans have been carefully designed to manage the large turnout. Vehicle movement on major expressways around Jewar will be restricted between 7 am and 11 pm, except for emergency services. Parking has been arranged for nearly 14,700 heavy and medium vehicles and 5,000 two-wheelers, with separate zones for VIPs, media, police, and the public. Shuttle services will ferry attendees from parking areas to the venue, while dedicated routes have been mapped for visitors from Delhi, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, and Mathura.

To ensure medical preparedness, 16 hospitals — including the Government Institute of Medical Sciences and Noida district hospital — have been put on alert, alongside the deployment of ambulances and medical teams. The inauguration marks a significant step in strengthening regional connectivity and supporting economic growth. Stay with TOI for more updates:

I would also like to appeal to all political parties in Uttar Pradesh and across the country to refrain from making statements that may harm national interest during such times. The Government of India’s policies and strategies are guided by what is in the best interest of the nation. Those who indulge in irresponsible political rhetoric may gain some temporary advantage, but actions that harm the country are never forgiven by the people. During the Covid crisis too, some spread rumours and misinformation about vaccines, but the public rejected such politics.

Noida International Airport Inauguration Live: PM Modi says region now ready to welcome the world, strengthening ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’
Noida was once left to its fate due to superstition, and the previous governments were so afraid of losing their positions that they avoided coming here. I remember when the Samajwadi Party government was in power, and I planned to visit Noida. The Chief Minister was so scared that he did not attend the event. I was also threatened and told, "Don't go to Noida, Modi ji, you have just become the Prime Minister." I replied, "I am going to seek the blessings of the land that has given me the opportunity to serve for a long time." Today, that very area is ready to welcome the world. This entire region is strengthening the resolve of an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat': PM Narendra Modi
13:21 (IST) Mar 28

I have explained in detail in Parliament how to deal with the crisis arising from the ongoing (West Asia) conflict. I also held a long and positive discussion with all Chief Ministers yesterday. I urge all citizens to remain calm, patient and united to face this crisis together. This is a situation that is creating challenges across the world, and we must focus on safeguarding our country’s interests.

Noida Airport Inauguration Live: 'Noida airport marks a new direction for India’s aviation'
Prime Minister, over the last 11–12 years, you have taken significant steps to move 'New India' toward the goal of a 'Developed India' across every sector. The Noida International Airport is a vital part of this journey. The people of Uttar Pradesh are now providing the nation with a new direction on the global aviation map, fulfilling your vision. Parties like the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, through their incompetence, left both the country and the state in a developmental bottleneck. From 2002 to 2017, Uttar Pradesh continuously endured that disgrace and was a victim of such stagnation. However, due to the rapid development witnessed by the country over the last 12 years, and by Uttar Pradesh over the last nine years, under our 'double-engine government: CM Yogi Adityanath

Noida Airport Inauguration Live: 'Passengers visiting Taj Mahal in Agra will benefit from Noida airport'
I congratulate the Government of India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and also the UP Government for bringing a world-class airport in partnership with Zurich Airport. This airport was long overdue because the slots at Delhi airport are mostly completely exhausted. A lot of new airlines that want to come to Delhi are unable to come because there are no slots. But this is so near Delhi that this will not only serve Delhi, but also passengers who are coming to see the Taj Mahal, Agra. Similarly, the entire hinterland of UP will benefit from this. But apart from this, there has to be a connectivity between Delhi International Airport and Noida International Airport. There has to be a fast metro or an airport express line between here and the airport. There should be a comfortable coach service so that people with their baggage can transfer from one airport to another airport. Just like in Delhi International Airport they have a lot of hotels, you need to have a lot of hotels around. Because if any flight is delayed and people are stranded, then it will be a big problem to get them accommodation: Subhash Goyal, Chairman of the Aviation and Tourism Committee of the Indian Chamber

Noida International Airport Inauguration Live: Noida airport inauguration today, flights likely from May as security clearance, tariff approval awaited

Noida International Airport will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, but the earliest date for flight operations to begin is likely only by May.The delay is not because of unfinished infrastructure. It is because of final regulatory steps that every airport must clear before airlines can open bookings and begin operations. The most important of these is the Aerodrome Security Programme (ASP) certification by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.ASP is the airport’s core security framework, laying down how checks will work from entry gates to boarding, and assigning responsibilities to all stakeholders, including the airport operator, airlines, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and ground handlers. It also sets out contingency plans to help authorities respond quickly to any security situation.

In 2019, when land acquisition began for Noida International Airport, Saurav Kumar saw a future that would not involve getting out of Jewar and joining the rat race in Delhi or another big city. A BTech student then, Saurav went on to study MTech in automobile engineering, hoping to have the right qualification for the jobs he expected to come to town, accompanying the airport. His family was among those that gave up land for the project and was assured of a job, besides compensation. The money came, but not the job. Like Saurav, many Jewar youths have become steadily disillusioned as the airport has taken shape and is now ready for inauguration.

Visitors from Meerut and Ghaziabad via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway will exit at Sirsa toll plaza and pass Galgotias University and Dayanatpur to reach the airport. Those coming from Aligarh and Mathura will exit Jewar toll plaza and take the Sabauta cut to access the venue.

Noida International Airport at Jewar is set to be inaugurated by Narendra Modi on Saturday, marking a major milestone in expanding aviation capacity for the Delhi-NCR region. However, despite the formal launch, commercial flight operations are unlikely to begin before May, as key regulatory approvals are still pending.

Officials clarified that the delay is not due to incomplete infrastructure but is linked to mandatory clearances required before airlines can start operations. The most crucial among these is the Aerodrome Security Programme (ASP) certification from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. The ASP outlines the airport’s comprehensive security framework, detailing procedures from entry points to boarding gates and defining responsibilities for all stakeholders, including airport operators, airlines, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and ground handling agencies. It also includes contingency plans to manage potential security threats effectively.

Several airlines, including IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express, have already committed to operating domestic flights from the airport once approvals are secured. The initial network is expected to connect Noida with key cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, and Dehradun. However, final route details and ticket bookings will only be confirmed after the security clearance is granted.

Meanwhile, extensive preparations have been made to ensure safety and emergency readiness during the inauguration event. The health department has deployed more than 60 ambulances, each staffed with doctors and medical teams, to handle any emergencies. Of these, 49 ambulances are equipped with basic life support systems, while 16 are fitted with advanced life-saving facilities.

Additionally, multiple hospitals have been put on alert to provide rapid medical assistance if needed. These arrangements reflect a robust emergency response strategy, especially considering the large number of attendees expected at the inauguration.

Overall, while the airport’s inauguration marks a significant step forward in enhancing regional connectivity and easing pressure on Delhi’s existing aviation infrastructure, commercial operations will depend on the completion of final regulatory processes in the coming weeks.
