INDORE: Residents of Khandwa felt mild tremors on Friday morning after a low-intensity earthquake struck the region. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the quake measured 3.0 on the Richter scale and occurred at 8:46 am.The epicentre was recorded at 21.63°N latitude and 76.43°E longitude, with a shallow depth of 5 kilometres in Khandwa. Seismologists noted that shallow quakes are often felt more distinctly near the epicentre, even when their magnitude is relatively low.

Though the tremors lasted only a few seconds, they were strong enough to cause a brief alarm among residents in parts of Khandwa. Some people stepped out of their homes as a precaution, but normalcy was quickly restored.Khandwa Collector Rishav Gupta said, “The earthquake must have been a mild one. No damage or casualties have been reported.” Officials confirmed that no damage to property or infrastructure has been recorded so far. There are also no reports of injuries.The district administration has assured that necessary precautions are in place, and the situation is being closely monitored. The NCS continues to track seismic activity in the region, though no aftershocks have been reported yet.
