City nights hit 22°, rain promises a brief cool escape

Indore: Indore saw unusually warm nights on Sunday, with the minimum temperature rising to 22.4°C, about four degrees above normal. Relief is expected from March 30, with forecasts of light rain, thunderstorms, cloudy skies and gusty winds.Residents felt restless sleep and a lingering warmth through early morning hours, a contrast to the milder nights typical of March. At 8.30 am, the temperature reached 26°C, adding to the heat. The daytime heat, though slightly lower at 35.8 °C, remained firmly in place. Even at 5.30 pm, the temperature hovered around 35°C, keeping roads and markets under a steady heat load.Relief is expected from March 30, with the Meteorological Department indicating light rainfall, cloudy skies, thunderstorms and gusty winds across parts of Indore and the Ujjain division. Wind speeds may reach 30 to 40 kmph, bringing brief cooling. "The minimum temperature is likely to drop as these systems become active," a weather official said.While the approaching spell of wind and rain may offer temporary relief, residents remain cautious, as earlier shifts this month brought only short-lived cooling before temperatures climbed again.
