B’day party dispute turns violent, three held for knife attack

Indore: A minor altercation during birthday celebration in Pardeshipura area escalated into a knife attack, leaving a man seriously injured. Three persons were arrested.

Additional DCP Amrendra Singh said that the incident took place around 11 pm on May 31 at Janata Quarter, where Jayesh Sankat was celebrating his birthday with friends Rajdeep Singh Pandha alias Mangu Sardar and Nitin Rao. The group was allegedly consuming liquor when an argument broke out between Mangu Sardar and Kalu Maratha over an old rivalry.

Police said Kalu Maratha and Goldy alias Guruvinder Singh allegedly assaulted Mangu and attacked him with a knife, inflicting serious injuries on his head and nose. Another accused, Vinod alias Pannub also manhandled the victim.

Based on the complaint, Pardeshipura police registered a case for attempt to murder and other offences. A police team tracked down and arrested all three accused within a few hours of the attack. The knife used in the assault was also seized during the operation.
