Indore: Five people were injured after a long-running land dispute between two families escalated into a violent street clash in Shujalpur town on Saturday.
The confrontation broke out near the industrial area on Akodia-Shujalpur road when members of both the families came face to face during a community gathering. What began as an argument quickly spiralled into a physical fight. Men started attacking each other using sticks and rods in full public view.
A video of the incident, now circulating locally, shows the intensity of the clash, with one biker attempting to ram into a group before being assaulted. Moments later, the same person is seen pulling out and loading a pistol, raising alarm among bystanders.
The dispute centres around nearly 18,000 square feet of ancestral land.
Tensions have persisted over the land for more than 15 years. One faction is linked to BJP councillor Saeed Patel, whose family resides in the Tila area of Shujalpur, while the opposing side lives at Akodia Naka.
Among the injured is Hafiz Pathan, a tiles trader and elder brother of the councillor. Four others were also injured in the violence.
Both sides approached Shujalpur Mandi police station and lodged complaints against each other.
The case has also taken a political turn with the rival faction alleging that police action was influenced by the councillor.
