Indore: Over 30 people fell ill allegedly due to contaminated food following a birthday celebration in Bhagirathpura, the locality that recently made headlines for a water tragedy.
On Saturday, Akash Mukshia, a resident of Shukla Gali, hosted a party to celebrate his son's birthday, inviting approximately 40 relatives and acquaintances. The traditional menu featured dal-bafle, a local delicacy. By Sunday morning, a majority of the guests reported symptoms of vomiting and stomach pain shortly after returning to their homes.

Mukshia said more than 30 guests, including his wife, brother and sister-in-law were affected.
"We prepared the food at home and used water from a private borewell for cooking. Doctors told us it was a clear case of food poisoning," Mukshia said.
Fortunately, none of the cases were critical. While many sought treatment at local private clinics, no hospitalisations were required.
Chief medical and health officer Dr Madhav Hasani said that three people visited the local govt dispensary with complaints of abdominal pain.
Of them, one was referred to MYH. "Three persons directly visited MYH with complaints of vomiting and stomach pain," he said, adding that the condition of all was normal.
A team from food department reached the spot on Sunday to collect samples of the ingredients used in the food. "Dal-bafle was not left. So, we could not collect its samples," food safety officer Manish Swami said adding that they primarily suspected dal, which could be stale or contaminated for some reason, leading to food poisoning.
